At this festival, we give thanks to the rich autumn harvest.
The shrine is crowded with worshippers eating, drinking, singing, dancing, drawing lottery tickets and much more.
Okuni-sama is also famous as the guardian of the Zodiac, and has been gathering faith since ancient times.
It is said that each name Okuni-sama uses is a manifestation of a different soul. When Okuni-sama is called by the name “Oomononushi no Kami”, it is a manifestation of Nigimitama. When Okuni-sama is called by the name “Yachihoko no Kami”, it is a manifestation of Aramitama.
In the past, people also categorized Okuni-samaʼs divine powers into 4 and called it Shikon (4 Souls). Each soul was named based on its personality. The brave soul was named Aramitama, the gentle soul was named Nigimitama, the soul that did mysterious works was named Kushimitama, and the soul that brought happiness was named Sachimitama.
